Private time tracking with no account
Your time records describe your clients, your projects, and your income. That is not data you should have to hand to a third party just to track an hour.
Most time trackers are cloud services. To use them you create an account, and from then on your work lives on someone else's servers. For a team that needs a shared workspace, that trade is reasonable. For one person tracking their own billable hours, it means handing over a detailed map of your business in exchange for a feature you do not need.
Clocktower takes the opposite default. There is no account, and your data stays with you.
Why an account is not a given
An account exists so a service can store your data and identify you across devices. Apple already solved both problems for apps on its platforms: a local database for storage, and iCloud for private, per-user sync. A single-person app does not need its own servers or its own login on top of that. Adding them mostly adds risk: another place your data sits, another company that can be breached, another set of terms to trust.
What private by default means in Clocktower
- On your device. Your projects, hours, notes, and rates live in a local database on the device you use.
- Synced through your own iCloud. If you are signed into iCloud, your data mirrors to your personal iCloud account so it is there on your other devices. You control it through your Apple account.
- No account, no profile. There is no sign-up and no login. We never build a profile of you, because there is no identity to attach one to.
- No tracking of what you log. No third-party advertising, no cross-app tracking, and what you record is never tied to who you are or sold.

What this means in practice
You open the app and start tracking. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to manage. Your records sync quietly across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac through iCloud, and if you ever want to remove everything, you delete the app and clear its iCloud data from your Apple account. Because the data is yours, its retention is yours to decide. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
Clocktower is a visual time tracker that keeps your work private by default. No account, no tracking, synced over your own iCloud across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
